Boston Harbor Inshore Report on 6th Sep, 2026
This morning we had a group of veterans out on a charter sponsored by Fishing For The Mission. As my recent reports have stated it is hit or miss out there now. We started the trip with some tube and worm in Hull. We landed one small schoolie. we headed to Bostonvin the Castle Island area. tried our favorite umbrellas plus some deeper Mojo tandem’s. no bites and we pushed deeper into Boston Harbor where the fish gods blessed us with a blitz. we landed 3 30-31 inch keepers in less than an hour. great day.

It is not a happy time when the season winds down, but that seems to be the case. Fishing action is becoming more difficult to find. the usual spots from high season are not paying off. Gail, Chuck, Taylor and McKenzie joined us this morning and nothing worked. after checking the usual spots, Fore River Channel, Castle Island Channel and the Anchorage we tried Little Brewster, Hypocrite Channel, Georges Island and the hull gut but no fish were caught or marked. 3 more charters booked and the 2026 season is a wrap.

Quincy Bay Inshore Report on 22nd Aug, 2026
I will say again it has been slower lately. yesterday morning I had John, his brother James and their Father Steve out. I had good intel on a spot in Hull and a Captain buddy of mine was their catching fish, unfortunately by the time we got there it had died down. I followed my buddies lead with tube & worm but no catches tried running our umbrellas in the channel but only caught the bottom. after successfully retrieving our rig we headed to Boston. I heard some encouraging chatter on the radio. there was a fleet working the north side of Specticle Island. I made a quick check of our Castle Island spot with negative results and the fleet at Specticle evaporated. Some boats were working the anchorage so we checked that, nothing. We were already in overtime and headed back towards Hingham when I spotted a good sized fleet working the area in Quincy Bay between Nut Island and Hangman’s. We trolled our umbrellas through and got 3 stripers in short order. a 30” slot, a 32 and a little 23”er. with happy customers we returned for home port

Weymouth Fore River Inshore Report on 15th Aug, 2026
Sue and her crew were looking to give fishing a try. I was a bit concerned about our success chances due to recent inshore Striped Bass trip results. I did suggest moving the trip to a morning offshore bottom fishing trip at no extra charge which I have been getting reports is producing well, however they chose to keep their trip as is. We began with trolling our Fore River Channel Spot with no bites or fish marking. We ran in town to the Castle Island Channel and it was just as barren. Weeds in the water were a problem requiring frequent reeling in and cleaning of our rigs. I gave a shot at Quincy Bay which I had received intel has been productive but nothing was working. I made the decision to return to the Fore River channel for one last shot. I ran the troll all the way into the Town River and just short of that we finally found some action. 3 hookups resulted in no fish on at the boat, most likely schoolies. Then finally in extra innings we managed to land a nice 30 “ slot Striper. The ladies decided that such a beautiful fish should be allowed to live, so it was released alive and well.

Boston Harbor Inshore Report on 6th Aug, 2026
I dont know what is going on lately but we got skunked today, not much better yesterday. We git an earlier start than usual and conditions were great. calm seas almost no wind, overcast, but not a fish was landed. The usual spots failed to produce a hookup or fish marking on sonar. We tried tube and worm around Specticle Island and finally tried deeper water ledges, Boston Ledge and Hardings ledge with zero luck. I hope this turns around soon!

Weymouth Fore River Inshore Report on 5th Aug, 2026
Today we had an old colleague and his family out. The day was beautiful, the fish however were not cooperative. We started a run in the Fore River Channel and were hooked up immediately. Unfortunately the fish was lost at the stern. We hooked up with another shortly thereafter and it turned out to be an under size fish. 24 inch Striped Bass. Unfortunately the little guy took the lure too deeply and did not survive the hook removal. As per the law we discarded him dead. such a waste. Things unfortunately didn’t improve from there. We ran Castle Island Channel, the anchorage, Specticle Island and some repeats with no more fish landed. It was the second slowest day of the season.

Weymouth Fore River Inshore Report on 2nd Aug, 2026
This morning we had a local dad and his 3 boys out for some fishing. Winds were greater than the previous two days and continued to increase as the morning went on, but overall a nice day. We started the day trolling the Fore River Channel. We hooked up quickly but unfortunately the fish was lost at the back of the boat. 3 more fish followed all landed. 1 keeper at just under 31” and a 33”er and 34”er. Unfortunately things slowed down the rest of the trip and nothing else was caught. I suggested we take the run to Boston where Im confident a couple more could have been caught however one of the young guests was not in favor, so we continued to search the area to no avail

Boston Harbor Inshore Report on 1st Aug, 2026
This morning we had 3 generations of the Kelly family aboard. 1 nice catch in the Fore River Channel started the day. nice conditions,,calm seas light wind. we traveled to Castle Island Channel during slack tide. 3 more Stripers, 1 a keeper, a couple real close just over slot. The anchorage was busy with the fishing fleet. We went to check it out. a few large wolfpacks of Stripers were marking. tried out the Rockfish Candy Mojo Tandems in 4&8 Oz. tough area to troll with the heavy fishing activity. we had a double hookup. one lost at the back of the boat, the other landed a 37”er, back to Castle for one more slightly over slot. nice day. 6 fish total.

Boston Harbor Inshore Report on 31st Jul, 2026 - 1
After a very successful morning charter with 6 fish landed I was skeptical that the afternoon could be near as good. Boy was I wrong. Alison and her boys cane down fron Taunton. We started in the Fore River channel and were lucky enough to get a double hookup. Two fiah landed, the pressure was off. We made another pass but nothing was marking. On to Castle Island Channel. it started slow,,we managed two more fish landed. I spotted some action across the channel in front of the airport. We cruised over and suddenly ended up in the middle of a blitz. A double hookup, another double hookup then a single 38 incher. 9 fish in total. 2 were 38” andc1 was 37. a great afternoon trip!

After last Tuesdays dismal trip I have to admit I was a bit nervous about the fish remaining in the area. the morning was beautiful, blue skys, comfortable temperature, glass calm seas. Tide was slack to start turning to incoming, after a quick pass in the Fore River Channel I headed directly to Boston to the Castle Island Channel spot. 6 fish landed, 3 slot keepers 1 under slot, 2 over slot, the largest 35 1/2 inches. great morning!

Weymouth Fore River Inshore Report on 28th Jul, 2026
Today was a tough one. I’m not gonna lie. we got skunked for the first time in 2 seasons. The day was good.,Tide was incoming with no slack until the very end of the trip. wind was reasonable, seas were mostly calm and it started out overcast, which us a good thing for fishing. I had a high confidence that fish would be caught. I started with our Fore River channel spot which has been reasonably good this year. After a couple of passes some fish marked on sonar, but no bites. I made the decision to go to our Castle Island channel spot. minimal marks and on bite quickly off the line (likely a failed hook). No other bites, minimal marks, tried the deeper water in the anchorage, no buano, looked for signs of activity throughout the harbor, made a pass through Hull gut, no joy, back to Fore River, marked some fish, changed a lure to chartreuse, all with no catches. I hate the saying but I guess thats why they call it fishing not catching!

Weymouth Fore River Inshore Report on 26th Jul, 2026
Rajesh, his son and his buddy came up from NJ and wanted to do some fishing. the crew has been enjoying fresh water fishing and wanted to try some bigger fish. We started in the Boston Castle Island channel. 1 fish was lost on the retrieve, and 1 was landed. Fishing pressure there was heavy early on this Sunday morning making trolling our usual lines difficult. despite a brief flurry of bird activity the sonar showed unremarkable fish activity. I made the decision to return to the Fore River Channel. at first I was worried as a good length of the run was void of fish activity then just prior to the no wake zone a good group was detected and we were on shortly thereafter. a rinse and repeat of the area provided 3 more fish landed, 3 over slots and 2 slots in total for the day. All fish were released alive and well per the customers wishes. as the time drew to a close the fish disappeared as slack tide took hold. we returned to the dock with 3 happy customers.

Bryan and family are up from the Long Island area and booked an afternoon charter. Tide was low and slack to start so we cruised into Boston from jump street. The bite was slow for the first hour, but really turned on as the afternoon wore on. soon we were hooking up within 2 minutes of the start of every trolling pass. 8 fish total were landed. 4 were slot keepers and 4 were over-slot and were released alive and well.

Quincy Bay Inshore Report on 20th Jul, 2026
After two windy days with small craft advisories this morning was cooler and much calmer. unfortunately our favorite fishing locations of the Fore River Channel and Castle Island Channel seemed mostly devoid of the fish that had been there for weeks. we were fortunate to hook up a double on two Stripers in the Castle Island Channel. 1 slot keeper and 1 oversized. several passes later no more fish were hooked or marked. i nade the decision to head back for one last try at the Fore River Channel. On the way back I spotted a huge number of birds working between Hangman’s Island and Quincy Nut Island.?many boats were present including several other charter boats. A full on biltz was underway with bass swirling. we put our Rockfish Candy Umbrellas out and trolled through the mayem resulting in multiple double hookups. 8 more bass landed, 1 more keeper and a days best 39”er. nice way to end the day

Weymouth Fore River Inshore Report on 19th Jul, 2026
After yesterday’s heavy winds things seemed to have calmed down this morning. A small craft advisory continued to be in effect until 2 pm. I made the call to continue with the planned Charter. The Parker 2320 is a very seaworthy small vessel. Winds were moderate at first, but grew stronger as the morning progressed. there was whitecapping of swell. The fish didn’t seem to mind. Two Stripers were landed in quick succession. one slot keeper and one over slot. Not much was marking on the sonar so I made the decision to head for Boston. as we passed Peddocks Island we were hit by 5 foot waves. I made the call to turn around and we returned to the Fore River channel and picked up 3 more, two slot fish and one more 32 inch over slot.

This morning started out calm. we hooked up on a 33” Striper right away. 3 more fush were landed. 1 slot fish just under the 31” maximum and two other over limit, the largest was 35” a number of additional hookups including two double hookups unfortunately resulting in fish getting off. the winds picked up as the morning wore on. At the end of the trip conditions were a full on small craft advisory.
